More about S-Works

Specialized / S-Works has one of the widest ranges of all brands and Specialized offers a wide variety of different bikes.

Are you a real “off roader” and do you like to go into the woods? Then an S-Works Epic is definitely one of the top models in the Netherlands. The Epic model is available in both the Full Suspension and the Hardtail variant. The S-Works Epic comes in multiple types and variants. Below we highlight the two different “types” of Epic.

S-Works Epic Full Suspension

With the Full Suspension you have more grip and therefore a more secure feeling while riding due to the extra damper with Brain Technology. An absolute additional advantage is that you enjoy a lot more comfort due to the damper. The Full Suspension is also to its advantage with rougher surfaces, because the extra rear damper can absorb a lot of shocks, you can ride a lot faster in the woods with a lot of roots, stones and holes. This is often the deciding factor for the fanatic enthusiast.

Benefits of a Full Suspension bike from S-Works:

  • The Brain suspension controls the suspension of the bike. The Brain suspension adjusts between hard and soft faster than the human reaction, without having to operate any buttons or levers. In this way, the suspension is automatically in the right position for each type of terrain;
  • On paths with a lot of bumps you can ride faster with a full suspension. Take brake holes for example: you can easily steer over them. Drops are also easily absorbed;
  • Enjoy a high level of comfort, because the shocks are better absorbed. This gives you more security and a higher top speed on the bike;
  • The fully is easier to control because it bounces less compared to a hardtail;
  • The bike reacts more predictably to obstacles and brakes more powerfully, because the tires almost always remain on the ground;
  • You have more grip on the surface. This is the result of the rear damper, because it springs in a little, which means that the rear tire is pressed into the surface;
  • An S-Works Epic Full Suspension is one of the lightest and stiffest race fullys in the world;
  • An Epic is almost always mounted with a Sram XX1 drive chain, this groupset is harder, quieter, lighter and more durable and shifts super accurately. It is available in a mechanical and an electric version (AXS). The newer models also have a Quark power meter, with which you can measure the power on the pedals and adjust your training accordingly;
  • The bike is equipped with Sram Ultimate disc brakes for balanced power and modulation.

S-Works Epic Hardtail

The Specialized S-Works Epic Hardtail has, as the name suggests, a “hard tail” and therefore only has a suspension fork with Brain Technology. The Brain is a self-functioning system where a lockout is no longer necessary. This is one of the absolute spearheads and characteristics of the S-Works brand from Specialized.

Benefits of the Specialized S-Works Epic Hardtail:

  • The FACT 12m carbon S-Works Epic Hardtail frame is incredibly strong and incredibly light. And we don't just say that: it's the lightest production hardtail frame ever made;
  • The RockShox SID BRAIN fork combines 100 millimeters of the most efficient suspension on the planet with RockShox’s sleek yet stiff SID chassis. The pinnacle of XC race suspension perfection;
  • A Hardtail is very agile;
  • The price tag is lower compared to a Full Suspension;
  • On hard surfaces this is a real racing monster;
  • An Epic is almost always mounted with a Sram XX1 drive chain, this groupset is harder, quieter, lighter and more durable and shifts super accurately. It is available in a mechanical and an electric version (AXS). The newer models also have a Quark power meter, with which you can measure the power on the pedals and adjust your training accordingly;
  • The bike, like the Full Suspension variant, is equipped with Sram Ultimate disc brakes for balanced power and modulation.

Roval Wheels

  • An S-Works Epic has a   Roval Control Wheelset. These are very stiff and also very light. With the top hubs of mostly DT-Swiss this gives you a top advantage over the rest.
